Accommodation Details
The Backpackers Ritz has many features that make it a special place to stay in Jo'burg. It used to be an old stockade back in the Boer War (!), then it became a circus house, morphing into the home of VW's Baron and Baroness....to finally, one of Joburg's most loved backpackers!
The property is smack on the side of a hill, so the views out over the tree-ed city are pretty awesome. Large gardens offer some braaiing (South African for barbequeing) opportunities, there's the pool and within you've got access to a game room, underground bar and a small TV lounge! Internet is available at reception and there's as a communinal kitchen to prepare all wonderous braai ingredients!
Please note a minimum of 18 years is required for all backpacking guests.

Room Information
Rooms are pretty large with wooden floors awesomly airy. Linen is provided, changed daily and lockers are also available for all things valuable. There are sperate girls and boys bathroom facilities next to each dorm and private rooms are actually located in a seperate building to the main backpackers - allowing a little more privacy.

Location
Set in a large, beautiful mansion with a garden, the Backpackers Ritz provides a clean, comfortable spot in Jo'burg - a safe hop-and-a-skip from Hyde Park Mall, and tonnes of funky bars and restaurants.
She's at the end of a cul-de-sac, so somewhat private and off the noisy beaten track!

There are many amenities close to the Backpackers Ritz, including:
· Bars, restaurants, and cafes - 10-minute walk
· There are cinemas, supermarkets, shops and banks, as well as many Airline Offices - 10-minute walk
· The famous Rosebank Flea Market is a mere stone's throw away.

How To Get There
Recommendation -
STAy recommends booking a Ritz airport transfer - you'll be whisked straight from the airport to the backpackers.
By Car -
Take the R24 towards Johannesburg,
Take the M2 towards City Centre,
Take the M1 North towards Sandton,
Take the Jan Smuts turn off, turn left onto Jan Smuts Avenue,
Travel for about 5km until you reach the Dunkeld Shopping Centre on your left (if you get to Hyde Park Corner you have gone too far), take the first turn left onto North Road,
The hostel is 1A North Road at the very end.
