Could you ask for a cooler location? Base St Kilda is located in the centre of this trendy suburb, and has some of the best Melbourne has to offer - right on your doorstep. Within minutes of the beach, you could stop en route for a coffee and a cake on Acland Street, head to one of the buzzing bars or make yourself feel sick on the rides at Luna Park. With a tram stop right outside the door, accessing other parts of Melbourne is easy too.

How To Get There
Free Transfer -
Offer: free arrival transfer from the airport if booking three nights or more. The offer is valid for transfers between 7am and 6.45pm.
Booking procedure: Upon arrival, call base Backpackers on the freephone number - 1800 24 BASE. They will issue you with a reference number and instructions on where to find the transfer bus. The transfer bus will drop you at the hostel door.
By Public Transport -
From the airport - By far the most hassle free way to get to the airport is to pre-book a transfer. If you are staying for 3 nights or more and arriving between 7am and 6.45pm, you can benefit from the free transfer kindly offered to you by Base St Kilda. We do need to know your flight details first though to be able to confirm it for you. If you arrive outside of these times or are staying for 2 nights or less, book a friendly Sunbus transfer from outside of the airport terminal, as you don't really need the hassle of hauling your backpack around Melbourne.
Take the Sky Bus from outside the terminal (this will set you back about AUD 18.00) which will drop you off at Spencer Street Station. From here you'll need to get a number 96 tram to St Kilda (it'll take about 20 mins or so), which will deposit you just around the corner (outside McDonalds) at the St Kilda Beach / Luna Park stop. From here stroll up Carlisle Street to the hostel - you can't miss it: it's bright red!
From Flinders Street railway station - Jump onto a number 16 tram from Flinders Street Railway Station, straight to St Kilda - taking you about 20 mins or so. Jump off at the St Kilda Beach / Luna Park stop (outside McDonalds) and stroll up Carlisle Street to the hostel.
