Boston Common, Back Bay & Beacon Hill
These are Boston's most affluent suburbs, filled with classical buildings and home to the city's elite. Occupying a compact area, they're close to the picturesque riverfront and the country's oldest public park, Boston Common. They also provide easy access to Downtown.
|
Downtown
You'll find Boston's theatre district, financial centre and transportation hub here. Much of the Freedom Trail winds its way through Downtown's streets, too. A visit to North End, located just to the North and home to much of the city's Italian community, is highly recommended too.
|
Fenway Park
Known as 'The Fens' to Bostonians, Fenway Park is home to the Red Sox baseball park, the Museum of Fine Arts, and much of Boston's student population. Conveniently close to pricier Back Bay, it's a good option for those looking for more economic accommodation.
|
|
Airport
Boston Airport is close to the centre of Boston and has excellent cheap public transport links. It's an affordable alternative to expensive city centre accommodation. However, it lacks much of the charm of the city's central districts.
|
Martha's Vineyard
Martha's Vineyard is about 1 hour outside of Boston. The unspoiled charm of Martha's Vineyard is probably best exemplified by the many scenic beaches located here - too numerous to list! The beaches vary from protected, shallow, clear-water stretches on the northern and eastern sides of the Island to expanses of rumbling surf along the south side.
|
Ladder District
A quirky mix of fast-food joints and unique small retailers add colour to this residential area. Manhattan style lofts are fast becoming the trendy way to live and the best bit of all - you feel slightly off the tourist beaten track, even though it's only minutes to Beacon Hill, Boston Common and Quincy Market.

About Boston:
Situated on the Atlantic coast of New England, Boston is a charming city offering a perfect blend of vibrancy and history. Home to Harvard and a number of other leading universities, Boston draws hundreds of thousands of students each year. Narrow streets with elegant brick town houses, acres of public greens, and churches on every corner give the city a distinctly European feel. Discover the delightful art galleries, antique shops and bookstores of Beacon Hill; relax in a sidewalk cafe on cosmopolitan Newbury Street; or dine on fresh seafood overlooking the waterfront. And don't forget some of North America's most popular tourist attractions like, New York, Montreal, Cape Cod, Niagara Falls, and Washington, are also within easy reach.
Getting There:
Boston Logan International Airport is 6 km East of downtown Boston.
Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, also known as MBTA but more commonly referred to as the 'T', is the local public transport company. They offer a subway service direct from the airport to the centre of town. Prices start from $ 1.25, depending on destination.
Alternatively, you can travel on the Water Shuttle. The journey to Rowe's Wharf in the city centre takes about 20 minutes and costs $ 12.00.
Taxis are available. Prices vary depending on your destination but expect to pay between $ 15.00 and 25.00.
Getting Around:
Boston is known as 'America's Walking City', and one of few US cities that can be enjoyed on foot. However public transport is very efficient.
Bus fares start from $ 0.90.
Subway prices start from $1.25.
If you're in town for a few days, purchase a Visitor Pass. These give access to all public transport, and can be bought from major stations and some ticket booths. They are sold as 1, 3 or 7 day passes, and cost $ 7.50, 18.00 and 35.00 respectively.
Taxis are plentiful but expensive, and rarely necessary in such a compact city.

Accommodation Details
The Inn is small, charming and intimate - allowing staff the ability to offer personalised services and individual attention to all guests. Staff are super knowledgeable in the area, so tap into their mental pool of tourist hot spots and off the beaten-track secrets and you'll have a whale of a time in the city.
The Chandler doesn't come equipped with restaurants, retail shops and fitness centres, as the hotel aims at offering guests a bed that is in spitting distance of an array of dinning and shopping options, that are just outside the front door.
In 2008, the Chandler was privileged to receive interior designers Eric Roseff and Denis Duffy. The hotel's makeover now oozes the comfort and sophistication of an Armani House!
