About Berlin: Berlin is one of Europe's most fascinating and culturally diverse cities. Divided for 40 years by the Berlin Wall, Germany's newly reinstated capital is a city of stark contrasts. While the former 'West' boasts a range of stylish shops, boutiques, restaurants and theatres, 'East' Berlin has developed an unrivalled cultural scene of its own, from trendy bars & nightclubs to alternative art galleries and museums. Berlin's unique history, amazing architecture and vibrant nightlife have made it one of the fastest growing youth travel destinations in Europe.

Getting There: Berlin-Tegel (TXL) is the cities main airport situated 8km NW of Berlin. It's connected to the centre by bus numbers X9, 109 or 128, which stop at various convenient places in the centre, offering further connections via the U-Bahn and S-Bahn (subway). A ticket costs approx. EUR 3, - and takes about 30 mins.

Berlin-Schoenefeld (SXF) is located ca. 20 km SE of the centre. You can take the Airport Express Train RE4 or RE5 to Zoo station for approx. EUR 2,50, -. Alternatively, you can take the S-Bahn S9 or S45, which are slower but also, offer easy connections to the centre.

Berlin-Tempelhof (THF) is located 6km SE of Zoo station and is the main hub for domestic and central European flights. The U-Bahn stop for Tempelhof is Platz der Luftbruecke, line U6. This goes directly to Friedrichstrasse in the centre.

Arriving by train: Most long distance trains stop at either Bahnhof Zoo in the City West or Ostbahnhof in the City East (or sometimes both). Both stations are well connected by the S-Bahn and U-Bahn (subway).

Getting Around: Berlin is spread out over a huge area and you will almost certainly need to use public transport to get around. Berlin's public transport system comprises an efficient network of S-Bahn & U-Bahn trains (subway), buses and trams. Unless you intend to visit Potsdam, you will only require tickets for zones AB. Single tickets cost EUR 1.25 (3 stops on the U-Bahn or S-Bahn) or EUR 2.10 for a longer trip. A day pass (Tageskarte) can be purchased for EUR 6.10 for zones AB.

The relaxed ambience, personal and attentive service is combined with colours and forms in a spectacular way here: the hotel presents a piece of a bygone era, the age of the so called Classical Modernism & Bauhaus. Get lost on the hallways, where you` ll find a little exhibition of Dali, Picasso, Miro & Kalinsky works. Marvell the architecture, enjoy the unique atmosphere. A 24 hour restaurant (international cuisine, also vegetarian) and a pleasant cafe add to the services. If you want to head off to explore the city, the best starting point is the reception where you`ll find loadsa information on where to go and what to do in the German capital.
